Aromatherapy: What it is not!
Definitely it should be known from the outset that Aromatherapy is not some sort of vague party plan entertainment or the aroma that wafts through the air at a coffee shop. The aroma of foods cooked with culinary herbs, which does include a good plunger coffee is very pleasant without a doubt. Pete's favourite culinary herb is rosemary, while Lyn has a bit of a sentimental soft spot for pepper. Having said that, let's talk about what Aromatherapy is. Aromatherapy can be aptly described as controlled therapeutic application of plant essences. Certainly essential oil molecules activate olfactory senses thus influencing psychological wellbeing according to several systemic reviews of randomised controlled trials. When applied to the skin, there is adequate scientific data to indicate that essential oil molecules absorb into the skin and blood in delivering a therapeutic activity in clinical practice. Depending on the chemical structure of various essential oils a patient's constitution may be stimulated or relaxed according to what is best needed for normalising function. The Australian Traditional Medicine Society is particular about educational achievement when accrediting a person to a modality.
